Ceramic Resonators are positioned between quartz crystal oscillators and LC/RC oscillators regarding their accuracy, but they are considerably smaller, require no adjustments, have improved start-up times, and are very inexpensive. Their oscillation frequency depends on the mechanical resonance linked with their piezoelectric crystalline structure.
Ceramic Filters get their basic frequency selectivity from the mechanical vibration resulted from the piezoelectric effect. Nearly all low and high-end AM/FM commercial radios use ceramic filters. They are also widely found in cordless telephones, cellular, computers, GPS, mp3 players, DVD recorders, TV, and many others.
